A convicted felon’s escape from custody was the result of an officer failing to follow police procedure, according to an email Friday by Surf City Police Department Chief Ron Shanahan.Christopher Scott Tew-Creech, 26, was arrested early Thursday for active drug warrants taken out in Onslow County, The Daily News reported. He allegedly possessed heroin at the time of his arrest and was taken to the Pender County magistrate’s office where he fled from police custody. [...]
